“As the parent of a child who is a cancer survivor, I know firsthand the challenges facing many of the families that are assisted by Brent’s Place,” said Marcus Abramowitz, Lokal Homes Vice President of Human Resources. “I’m honored to be a part of a company that supports this remarkable nonprofit.”
Abramowitz is describing his personal appreciation for the Lokal Cares initiative, which works in cooperation with the local nonprofit, that provides housing for immunocompromised patients and their families by offering a safe living environment during their healing and recovery.
For each home sold and closed in a Lokal community, a $250 donation is made to Brent’s Place, which in 2017 served 179 families with an average length of stay of 131 days.Brent’s Place is the only facility of its kind in the Rocky Mountain region approved by Children’s Hospital Colorado for patients with compromised immune systems. In addition to housing, Brent’s Place provides a variety of uniquely tailored programs and services for the entire family designed to help in the healing process.
“When I came to Lokal in 2017 I was humbled by our owners’ relationship with Brent’s Place,” added Abramowitz describing founders Dave Lemnah and Ryan Lantz’s commitment to the facility. “In Lokal’s early days, both owners committed to partnering with organizations that made an impact in our community and Brent’s Place was a perfect choice. I can’t think of a more rewarding place to work.”
Lokal’s IT manager, Greg Shepperd concurred. “It makes me feel good working here and being able to help kids battling cancer. Anything we can do to make them more comfortable is great and Brent’s Place goes above and beyond to help the entire family,” he said. “I’m proud to be a part of a team that truly gives back to the community we work and live in.”
As Lokal Homes has flourished, its commitment to give back to the community has gone stride-for-stride with its bottom line. Lokal’s Marketing Manager Nickki Pucher explained that the pillars of Lokal’s mission are integrity, passion, pride, commitment and an unrivaled customer experience. “Those fundamentals are shared by everyone in our company, from the top down and the bottom up,” she said. “We’re on a mission.”
Lokal Homes is a title sponsor for Brent’s Place’s 30th annual Kids Cure Event scheduled to take place on July 28. The event will feature a fun walk, community fair, pancake breakfast, carnival games and live entertainment. More than 1,000 participants are expected to attend including the entire Lokal Homes team.
